ILF Mission
Statement
The ILF
will serve as a charitable institution dedicated to promoting the Irish
language in the US, Ireland, and around the world. ILF will provide grants
and loans to organizations and individuals dedicated to creating and supporting
opportunities to use Irish as a living, spoken language. ILF will support
the use of high technology to expand access to Irish Language educational
resources. High-tech integrated computer networks, databases, websites,
internet portals, and web servers will be established to assist better
communication between Irish teachers, native Irish speakers, enthusiasts
and learners. In tandem with its mission to support the learning and use
of Irish, ILF will support efforts to foster Irish Language-based economic
growth in the Irish speaking areas in Ireland. These efforts will be aimed
at preserving and sustaining those communities where Irish is the primary
language thereby ensuring the survival of the language in its natural
state. Toward that end, ILF will seek to develop telecommunications infrastructure
in the under-served Irish speaking areas of Ireland so as to create the
mechanisms necessary to integrate more fully into the global economy.
By fostering an environment more conducive to broad-based economic activity,
ILF seeks to engender greater opportunity to pursue a variety of trades
and professions through the medium of Irish. In general, ILF will promote
the development of high quality employment opportunities for Irish speakers
so that do not have to leave Irish speaking areas to pursue their chosen
professions.
